I have been exhibiting at the Public Library Association PLA in Philadelphia this week. I have met librarians from all over the country, saw the keynote with Robert Kennedy, Jr. and have had a chance to network with old and new friends. Lots of information and inspiration!
I have so much admiration for librarians. They have been thrust onto the front lines of the most important issues of our time but they seem able to hold fast to a moral compass more than many professions. They are tireless advocates for the right of all members of the society to have access to the information and the technology required to use it. Libraries are facing funding cutback just when they are needing to find new spaces for more computers and making efforts to train patrons. All that, and trying to navigate the EBook revolution as well.
